[Guide] How to Install a AddOn

I have now seen a lot ask how to install an AddOn, so think it's time to get a guide up:

HOW TO INSTALL AN ADDON:

1. You download the AddOn from the link provided by the thread / post / forum.
2. You un-zip (unpack) the file.
3. If you don't have a folder named "Interface" in your "Runes of Magic" folder you need to create one, and then create a "AddOns" folder inside the new "Interface" folder.
4. You then copy the AddOn into the "Runes of Magic"/"Interface"/"AddOns" folder, like this:
   • Runes of Magic
     • Interface
       • AddOns
         • The_New_AddOn_Folder *
           • The_New_AddOn_File.toc **
           • The_New_AddOn_File.lua **
           • The_New_AddOn_File.xml **
             • The_New_AddOn_Sub-Folder ***
5. Check the place you downloaded the AddOn for a guide on how to use it.

Notes:

1. This is the folder of the AddOn you would like to install.
2. This is the files from the AddOn (they have their own names, and there might be more or less of em than shown in this example).
3. This might exist or might not, it depends on how the AddOn was build by the creator.
4. Runes of Magic installs TWO folders named "Runes of Magic". DO NOT confuse the two - one saves configuration and user information in the 'My Documents folder', and the other contains the actual game in the installation directory (the default location of the installation directory is "(C\Program Files\Runes of Magic" unless changed by the player at time of first install). Make sure to install addons into the installation directory and NOT into the 'My Documents' directory.

1. If anyone out there think it should be written in another way please leave a post with an alternative "solution", and we can figure out to how the exact look should be, also if anyone think this guide is missing something leave a post with information, and I'll add it to the first post.

I'm currently putting together an updated addon pack, and am also re-writing the installation docs and I came across this issue again: the fact that RoM creates two entirely separate directories both of which are called the exact same thing "Runes of Magic". One is stores user data (like SaveVariables.lua) and the other contains the .fdb files and executable and a bunch of other crap. Oftentimes when a user reports that your freshly uploaded new addon doesn't work for them, it is simply because the user has extracted everything into the wrong Runes of Magic folder!

So here is my slight edit of the instructions, feel free to edit my edit if I didn't make it clear or if it could be worded differently:

hmmm and when i install the addon how do i activate it ingame ? thats one thng that is not written in this post

Each addon has a different way. You need to read the instructions for each in its own thread.

now you can install any addon directly from rom.curse.com with curse client:
